Sofonias - O livro de Sofonias é um dos doze profetas menores do Antigo Testamento. O profeta viveu durante o reinado de Sofonias, provavelmente na época do rei Josias (século VII a.C.), antes da reforma religiosa promovida por esse rei. Sua mensagem central é o anúncio do "Dia do Senhor", um tempo de julgamento divino contra o pecado, a idolatria e a injustiça. Sofonias denuncia a corrupção presente em Judá e também proclama o julgamento de diversas nações vizinhas. No entanto, sua profecia não é apenas de condenação: ao final, ele anuncia esperança, restauração e alegria para o povo fiel.

1 - No primeiro capítulo de Sofonias, o profeta anuncia o julgamento de Deus contra Judá e Jerusalém por causa da idolatria, da injustiça e do afastamento do Senhor. O povo havia colocado sua confiança em falsos deuses, nas riquezas e no próprio poder, esquecendo-se de viver segundo a vontade de Deus. Por isso, Sofonias proclama a chegada do "Dia do Senhor", um tempo de castigo e prestação de contas. A mensagem é um forte chamado à conversão, lembrando que somente a fidelidade a Deus pode trazer salvação.

In the first chapter of Zephaniah, the prophet announces God's judgement upon Judah and Jerusalem because of idolatry, injustice, and their turning away from the Lord. The people had placed their trust in false gods, wealth, and their own power, forgetting to live according to God's will. Therefore, Zephaniah proclaims the coming of the "Day of the Lord", a time of judgement and accountability. The message serves as a strong call to repentance and a reminder that only faithfulness to God brings salvation.

2 - Sofonias convida o povo a buscar o Senhor com humildade e justiça antes que chegue o dia do seu julgamento. O profeta exorta especialmente os humildes da terra a permanecerem fiéis, pois poderão encontrar proteção. Em seguida, anuncia o castigo de diversas nações vizinhas — os filisteus, moabitas, amonitas, etíopes e assírios — por causa de seu orgulho, violência e oposição ao povo de Deus. A mensagem mostra que o julgamento divino não se limita a Judá, mas alcança todas as nações, enquanto aqueles que buscam sinceramente o Senhor podem encontrar esperança e salvação.

Во второй главе книги Софонии пророк призывает народ искать Господа, смирение и праведность, прежде чем наступит день Его суда. Особое обращение направлено к смиренным людям, которые могут найти защиту у Бога. Затем Софония возвещает суд над соседними народами — филистимлянами, моавитянами, аммонитянами, эфиопами и ассирийцами — за их гордость, насилие и вражду против народа Божьего. In the second chapter of Zephaniah, the prophet calls the people to seek the Lord with humility and righteousness before the day of His judgement arrives. He especially encourages the humble of the land to remain faithful, as they may find God's protection. Zephaniah then announces judgement upon neighbouring nations—the Philistines, Moabites, Ammonites, Cushites, and Assyrians—because of their pride, violence, and opposition to God's people. The chapter shows that God's judgement extends beyond Judah to all nations, while those who sincerely seek the Lord may find hope and salvation.

3 - Sofonias denuncia Jerusalém por sua rebeldia, corrupção e falta de confiança em Deus. Os líderes, juízes, profetas e sacerdotes são criticados por sua injustiça e infidelidade. Após anunciar o julgamento, o profeta revela uma mensagem de esperança: Deus purificará os povos, reunirá os dispersos e restaurará os humildes e fiéis. O livro termina com a promessa de que o Senhor estará no meio do seu povo, trazendo alegria, paz e salvação.

В третьей главе книги Софонии пророк обличает Иерусалим за его непокорность, развращённость и отсутствие доверия к Богу. Правители, судьи, пророки и священники осуждаются за несправедливость и неверность. После возвещения суда пророк переходит к вести надежды: Бог очистит народы, соберёт рассеянных и восстановит смиренных и верных. Книга завершается обещанием, что Господь будет среди Своего народа, принося радость, мир и спасение.

In the third chapter of Zephaniah, the prophet rebukes Jerusalem for its rebellion, corruption, and lack of trust in God. Its rulers, judges, prophets, and priests are condemned for their injustice and unfaithfulness. After announcing judgement, the prophet delivers a message of hope: God will purify the nations, gather the scattered people, and restore the humble and faithful. The book concludes with the promise that the Lord will dwell among His people, bringing joy, peace, and salvation.
